Lakeside Hires Mannarino as Head Boys Basketball Coach

Lakeside High School has announced the hiring of Jon Mannarino as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach. Coach Mannarino is a 2007 graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School where he played football and basketball, he graduated in 2011 from Thomas More College in Kentucky.

He began coaching at Beachwood in 2014 as a junior varsity coach and had worked as a varsity assistant for the past three seasons. He helped lead the Bison to a 22-3 record and a conference title. He worked under the tutelage of former Head Coach Matt Miller. Mannarino won 17 games and advanced to the district tournament in his first season as head coach. In two years as head coach at Beachwood, his teams won 29 games and made two trips to the District Tournament.

Prior to coaching at Beachwood, Mannarino held the position of Head Freshman Coach and Varsity Assistant at Walsh Jesuit High School. He also worked camps for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Lauderdale, and Kyrie Irving.

Mannarino said, “”I’m extremely honored and humbled to become the head boy’s basketball coach at Lakeside. I’m looking forward to working with our young student athletes on building a winning culture!  I believe that we will put together a product that will make our school and community excited about Lakeside Dragon Basketball! ”

Lakeside Athletic Director Jason Baxter said, “Coach Mannarino continues a string of coaching hires meant to change the culture at Lakeside High School and prepare us to be competitive as we transition into the CVC. Jon Mannarino is a program builder, he helped build Beachwood into a perennial winner. He has a vision from our youth to high school that we have needed at Lakeside, he also has a track record of running basketball camps and training basketball athletes from youth to professional. Coach Mannarino is a highly qualified basketball mind that will take our basketball program to the next level.”

Coach Mannarino will host his first youth camp for the student of Ashtabula Area City Schools from July 15-19 at Lakeside High School. The Dragons will open the 2019-20 season against Girard on November 29th.
