Lagoa finishes fourth at National Tournament

Ashtabula Lakeside junior Jacob Lagoa finished fourth this weekend at the Super 32 tournament in Greensboro, NC. Lagoa had a 6-2 record on the weekend, he won five straight matches before falling to eventual champ, Alex Facundo of Michigan. Lagoa’s six wins were in dominant fashion, five major decisions (outscoring opponents 69-17) and one by pin. The Super 32 Tournament is a highly regarded preseason wrestling tournament, Lagoa was able to wrestle in front of nearly 100 college wrestling coaches. For instance, 13 of the 20 finalists in last year’s NCAA Division I tournament wrestled at Super 32, seven won national titles. Lagoa is a two-time state champion as he enters his junior season at Lakeside as the second-ranked 160 pounds in Ohio Division I per BoroFan Rankings.
