Lakeside Hires Sziber to Lead Baseball Program

Lakeside High School is excited to announce that Jared Sziber has been hired as its new Head Baseball Coach. Sziber replaces Justin Street who left to pursue educational opportunities this past summer. Sziber joins Lakeside from Geneva where he has been the Head Coach the past five seasons (2013-2018).

Sziber was 67-48 in five seasons at Geneva including finishing as Jefferson District runner-up in 2014 and 2016. He is a graduate of Notre Dame College in 2011; he also attended and played baseball at Lake Erie College. He is a Special Education teacher at Lakeside High School.

Sziber said, “I am extremely and honored to be taking over the baseball program at Lakeside High School. I feel very confident with the coaching staff we are putting in place and the talent that we will have on the field, that we will have the ability to make the community, and school very proud of what we will accomplish.”

Lakeside Athletic Director Jason Baxter said, “Being able to recruit a coach the caliber of Jared (Sziber) was a huge step forward in changing the culture and mentality of our athletic department going forward. I have no doubt Jared will make huge strides in year one for our baseball program and continue doing the positive work he has been doing at Geneva. He is currently building a competitive game schedule and will be introduced to the athletes and parents soon.”

Lakeside will open the 2019 season at home against Jefferson on March 23. This past offseason Ashtabula Area City School made a major commitment resurfacing both JV and Varsity baseball fields.
